Privacy Policy

What we collect

Nothing. The Soft Sky has no account, no sign-up, no advertising and no analytics, and the app has no way to send information anywhere: it contains no networking code at all. Everything it remembers stays on your phone. That is the whole policy. The rest of this page is the detail behind it, so you can check the claim rather than take it on trust.

What the app stores, and where

The Soft Sky keeps one small file on your device, inside its own private app storage. It holds:

• the activities you have chosen for a day, and which of them you ticked off;
• any activities you wrote yourself;
• your rituals, and which days of the week they fall on;
• your breathing settings;
• whether you have turned on Apple Health;
• how far through the first-run tour you got.

Backups

None of that is sent anywhere. It is not backed up to any server of ours, because there is no server of ours, and it is readable only by the app itself, under the sandboxing iOS applies to every app. Because it lives in the app’s standard storage, this file is included in your own device backups if you make them, to iCloud or to a computer. Those backups are yours and Apple’s, governed by Apple’s terms, not ours. We have no access to them.

Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is entirely optional, and the app works fully without it. If you do connect it:

• The Soft Sky reads one data type: your resting heart rate.
• It reads only the last fourteen days of it, to draw a thin line across the history screen.
• It never writes anything to Apple Health. The app requests an empty write permission set, so it has no ability to add, change or delete a single record.
• The readings are held in memory while the app is open, used to draw the line, and then discarded. They are never written to the file described above, and never leave your phone.
• You can withdraw access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → The Soft Sky, or by turning it off inside the app. Declining is a supported state, not an error: the app simply draws no line and says so.

What we do not do

Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone. It is not shared with us either, because there is no “us” on the receiving end of anything. More broadly, the app has:

• No user accounts, logins or profiles.
• No analytics, crash reporting or usage tracking of any kind.
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No third-party software development kits. The app’s only outside components are two open-source typefaces, which are files, not services.
• No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
• No notifications, and so no notification tokens.
• No cookies or web tracking, because there is no web content in the app.
• Nothing is ever sold, rented or shared, because nothing is ever collected.

Purchases

The Soft Sky is bought once, from the App Store. Apple handles the payment and is the seller; we never see your name, your email address or your payment details. Apple gives us only anonymous, aggregated sales figures, how many copies sold in which countries, which cannot identify anyone. Apple’s own handling of your purchase is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age, and contains nothing that could identify a child. Nothing here changes based on how old you are, because there is nothing to change.

Your rights over your data

Data-protection law, including the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the GDPR in Europe and the UK, gives you rights to see, correct, export and erase personal information a company holds about you. We hold none. There is nothing for us to show you, correct, export or delete, and no request you could make of us that we would be able to act on. The only copy of your information is the one on your own phone, entirely under your control:

• To erase everything, delete the app. iOS removes its storage with it, and nothing survives anywhere else.
• To revoke Apple Health access, use Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever changes what it does with your information, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date above will change with it. We will not quietly start collecting something and tell you afterwards.
