Privacy Policy

What we collect

Nothing. Gentle Signals collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no servers. There is no account to make and no networking code in the app. Everything below is detail on that one sentence.

Health data

With your permission, the app reads data from Apple Health on your device — resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, workouts, steps, and the other measures shown on its screens — and works out what it shows on the device itself.

• It is read-only. The app never writes to Apple Health.
• Health data is never transmitted off your device, because the app cannot transmit anything.
• Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with any third party, service provider, data broker, or advertising network.
• You can withdraw access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Gentle Signals. The app will then have nothing to show, and says so.

What the app stores on your device

Three files, in the app’s own container, shared only with its widget:

• hero.json — the last result the app worked out, so the widget can draw it without having to read Health while your phone is locked.
• tags.json — the day tags you write, and their dates.
• layout.json — which metrics you have reordered, hidden or promoted.

Backups

Nothing else is kept. Deleting the app deletes all three. These files are included in your iPhone backup if you make one. That backup is Apple’s, handled under Apple’s terms and encryption, and is not visible to the developer.

What the app does not do

No accounts. No sign-in. No analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking. No advertising and no advertising identifiers. No third-party SDKs. No cookies. No data is collected, so none is sold, shared, or disclosed to anyone, and there is nothing held that could be requested, corrected, or deleted other than by deleting the app.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. A change that affected what the app does with your data would also require your Health permission again.
